I, surprisingly, have very little to say despite having been without power at our house for four days. I'm just glad it's over.

Lucky for me, I got my internet back just in time for... Kiva 38. I don't really talk about specific episodes much, and this probably won't be an exception. They way they're handling the familial reveal for Taiga/Wataru/Maya isn't much more than I expected, but then again, I learned not to depend to much on huge build-ups in Kamen Rider plots from Den-O.

What I do hate is how Nago is being handled — with IXA being stolen from him, the formerly cool, collected and absolutely driven (although sometimes insane) man becomes... the buttmonkey? Um. No. Just... no. What's sad is that I could see this coming, ever since Nago found Wataru out as Kiva, but I can't even stand to watch the scenes with him in it anymore.

Before, Nago was a compelling, different and challenging character in that he went through some extremes in the pursuit of Justice (recall the beginning of his obsession with buttons — driving his own father to suicide). He traveled through time to ensure IXA wouldn't be taken from him from some bitter artist who had it out for Otoya as IXA. So why would he just sit down, take it, and change his entire outlook when IXA was taken from him and given to Kengo? I don't get it and I hate what's being done to his character (and Kengo's, but Nago's about-face is bugging me so much more). It's not interesting to watch anymore: it's just downright embarrassing.

Now, with approximately ten episodes left before the show is finished... Here I am, futilely hoping Nago Keisuke can return to his former glory, while possibly pushing Kengo back into his dorky sidekick persona at the same time.

Yeah, Nago's characterization is making me wtf because wow, talking about a 180. He was basically married to the job and suddenly got divorced from it. Then IXA gets hooked up with a younger, more capable (for certain values of capable) user. I can sort of get him being desperate but...yeah. This is extreme.

I tried really, really hard to stay articulate in this post. Mostly, when thinking about what they're doing to him, I just want to keysmash and repeat, "WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY".

Just... yeah. I could maybe understand if we were given more of a reason, or more actual character development up to that point, but... putting tacks on IXA?! Wtf.

Seriously. Funny enough, Kabuto kind of did the same thing and it did work out for the best in the end mostly. Hopefully there's still time.

Really? Well... now I'm wondering when they started to do it, and if the character was more predisposed to being able to change like that. :|a

The characters in Kabuto were pretty dedicated to their Rider positions too. Once they lost it, thaaat's when it looked like things took a nosedive. New pattern?!

... fffft. Looks like a pattern to me.

Maybe...! Maybe they'll make another IXA and give one to Nago and the other to Kengo for some awesome final showdown. A girl can hope, right?!

I LIKE IT. There's gotta be redemption eventually! sob. Let me have my optimism.

& seriously, Kengo is such an ass. There's honestly nothing to like about him right now & it really makes me hope he turns back into his awesome self again. With the awesome hair & not the LOL I AM TRYING TOO HARD TO BE BADASS HAIR that he has now. ( & wth is up with that henshin part where he goes all LOL THIS IS MY SHOE NAO )

I had to cover my eyes during that. I just. flkdsnfklds ~~Though, the 'Na-Go-San' thing was kind of amusing, you have to admit... >-> If totally out of character.~~

I want old, awesome Kengo back. ;___; (With the shoe thing, I think he's just... using his foot, instead of his hand, like the other IXA users do, to activate it. It does look pretty funky, though.)
